Edge, a village of about 100 households, is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, overlooking the Vale of Gloucester. It held festivals in 1993 and 1995, when there were activities for children, balloon races, social meals, special church services, displays of flowers, exhibitions of arts and crafts, history and the local environment.

More people than ever came to the events of the 1997 Festival.

The Writing Competition for Gloucestershire.
Attracted more entries than ever. Hundreds came from all parts of the county. The Editor chose four prizewinning entries and this year additional prizewinners were chosen by Joanna Trollope and U A Fanthorpe. The pieces they chose are in this book.

So are special contributions, all about this county, by Jilly Cooper, U A Fanthorpe, Jenny Joseph, P J Kavanagh and Charles Tomlinson, some of the great writers of Gloucestershire.
